Volunteer Opportunities

At Legal Aid Society, we believe in justice for all. But ensuring everyone has access to legal representation takes a team effort. That's where YOU come in!

Volunteers are key to the success of our legal clinics, community events, and the daily operations at each of our 8 offices. Law students, interpreters, paralegals, attorneys, administrators – all bring valuable skills and dedication that empower us to help more people in need.

By signing up to volunteer with us, you are making a difference in the lives of people living in poverty who are in need of access to legal help.

Legal Aid Society regularly has opportunities for non-attorney volunteers in some of its local offices, especially from persons who can help with operational and clerical tasks. Volunteers may help answer the phone, handle general office work, translate and interpret, assist attorneys in gathering information and materials for their cases and on other responsibilities as necessary, depending upon the office’s needs and the experience of the volunteer.

Requirements to volunteer

  • be available for at least 10 hours per week
  • Be able to assist for at least eight weeks.
  • Depending upon the nature of the volunteer opportunity, you may be required to complete a criminal background check.
