
Dodson previously served as a staff attorney in Legal Aid Society’s Gallatin office since 2018, where she has represented hundreds of low-income and vulnerable residents of Macon, Smith, Sumner, Trousdale and Wilson counties. Her practice areas include health and public benefits law, tax law, employment law, elder law and special education.
Before joining Legal Aid Society, Dodson served as an elder justice AmeriCorps fellow for the Tennessee Justice Center, where she secured Medicaid and SNAP benefits for abused, neglected and financially exploited older adults, among other responsibilities. While in law school, she also served as an intern for Legal Aid Society during 2015 and 2016.
During her time at Legal Aid Society, Shelby has been a standout attorney, showing natural leadership skills as the head of our New Advocates Group and the TALS Health & Benefits Task Force,” said DarKenya W. Waller, executive director of Legal Aid Society. “I’m confident she will flourish as she takes over the management of our Gallatin office, helping residents of the area receive equal treatment under the law.”
Dodson received her juris doctor from Belmont University College of Law in 2016, graduating cum laude.
