We’re here to help. Legal Aid Society offers free legal help to individuals experiencing low-income and vulnerable individuals, including people age 55 and older, in certain civil cases.

Calling 1-800-238-1443 helps us review your request for legal help. Please share as much detail as you can, and be sure to answer all questions fully. This helps us understand your situation and determine how we may be able to help.
If You Can’t Reach Someone Right Away
We receive a high volume of calls each day. If you are unable to speak with a representative, please leave a voicemail.
We usually return calls within 24–48 hours.

Calling us does not mean that we have accepted your case. Our resources are limited, and we are not able to help everyone who contacts us—even when the issue is serious or unfair.
If we are unable to take your case, it does not mean your concern is not valid. You may want to visit our Recursos page to find other places that may be able to help.
If we need more information, we may contact you using the phone number or address you provide and may ask for documents related to your case.
Criminal Cases
We only handle civil legal matters (cases where you cannot go to jail).
If you have a criminal case, please contact the Public Defender’s Office in the county where you are charged.
