Deputy Director of Operations (DDO)
Location: Nashville
Salary $96,000 – $112,250 per year
The Deputy Director of Operations (DDO) oversees operations throughout the firm, working closely with staff to assess and address user and practice needs. Areas of responsibility include finance and accounting, human resources, facilities and office space, information systems, and related activities. The DDO is the direct supervisor of the Human Resources Manager, the Director of Finance and Accounting, the Director of Finance and Strategy, the IT managed services provider, and all other IT and operations service providers. The DDO leads and manages projects as assigned by the Executive Director and serves on the executive management team. This position is funded in part by, and in collaboration with, one or more grants. Personnel must adhere to goals and outcomes detailed in the grant contract. This position is funded for the duration of the grant(s) and subsequent renewal may result in modification of job duties and responsibilities.
Responsibilities Include:
- Administrative responsibilities include oversight of local office leases, including procuring office space for relocations and renovations, when necessary.
- Central conduit for all office utilities and services, including negotiations with real estate management and contractors.
- Supervise Human Resources Manager, Director of Finance and Accounting, and Director of Finance and Strategy.
- Assess departmental efficiencies and implement system changes to improve these efficiencies.
- Participate in internal committees, work groups, and other efforts to promote and improve LAS’ operations.
- Identify, research, and recommend future technologies and opportunities for integration and efficiency improvements.
- Oversight of cyber security training, incident responses, and cyber security insurance.
- Primary liaison and custodian for service contracts.
- Oversee timekeeping and leave balance activities.
- Comply with relevant portions of the Legal Services Corporation’s Performance Criteria and with the American Bar Association’s Standards for the Provision of Civil Legal Aid.
- Comply with program policies and regulations of the Legal Services Corporation and other funders.
- Perform other duties as requested by the Executive Director or Management.
Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree

Minimum 5 years’ experience leading projects in IT, Finance, HR, or Operations.

Minimum 7 years’ supervisory experience.

Excellent management skills.

Excellent communication skills (written and oral). Excellent interpersonal skills.

Able to establish effective working relationships with a variety of individuals.

Organized, able to prioritize work, plan and problem-solve, meet deadlines, and work well under pressure.

Advanced proficiency in Windows and Microsoft Office software.

Must have a driver’s license and access to a personal vehicle.
