Nashville- Family Law Paralegal

 

Legal Aid Society has an immediate opening for a Family Law Paralegal in its Nashville office.  The Paralegal will provide case management assistance to at least three Family Law Attorneys.  The Paralegal will also perform routine clerical and secretarial duties to support the activities of the staff attorneys, including drafting and typing legal documents, conducting intake, researching, compiling and drafting discovery, making telephone calls, transcribing dictation, data processing, case file maintenance, meeting with clients, and record keeping. Educate and advocate for low-income people.  The Paralegal will also ensure compliance with regulations and within file management software, create initial drafts of necessary grant reports and delegate duties to supervisees as appropriate.

 

The Paralegal must also adhere to goals and outcomes spelled out in relevant grant contracts.

 

Qualifications:

Must be sensitive to and committed to providing high quality legal and advocacy services to low-income people, elderly, and victims of abuse.  Must be very detailed oriented and have good organizational skills.  Must be able to follow directions and work with a team and independently.  Ability to prioritize.  Ability to relate to the needs of people of diverse backgrounds. Ability to effectively communicate in oral and written form.  Excellent interpersonal skills.  Strong typing and computer skills. Experience with Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc) and Legal Files database preferred.  Ability to learn new computer skills.  Prior experience working in the legal field is preferred.  Paralegal Degree or equivalent preferred.  Equivalent combination of education and work experience will be considered.

 

Salary: Dependent on experience.  Excellent benefits.
